What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is the philosophy, science, and art used to treat a variety of conditions of the human spine and muscle-skeletal system.  Chiropractic is unique because it relies on the bodies recuperative abilities to heal itself without drugs and/or surgery.  This is achieved by focusing on the spine and the role it plays in regulating the body's functions.

Chiropractic was discovered by D.D. Palmer in 1895, after an inadvertent push to Harvey Lillard's spine relieved a long time complaint of his.  Soon after Dr. Palmer realized his problem was related to the mal positioned vertebrae in Mr. Lillard's spine causing nerve interference which was the true cause of the problem.  Since that day, Chiropractic medicine has grown by leaps and bounds.  In many states,  Chiropractors are recognized as primary health care physicians, and can be seen everywhere from professional sports teams to hospitals.  Today we have one of the primary treatments for conditions such as low back pain, hip and leg pain, neck pain, arm and shoulder pain, headaches, carpel tunnel syndrome, mid back pain, and foot pain.  Being well educated in the structure and function of the human frame, chiropractors can help with every day aches and pains to the most complicated sport or work injuries.

The combinations of chiropractic adjustments and physiotherapies, like electric muscle stimulation and ultrasound, allows for a quick, healthy and speedy return to your favorite activities.  Chiropractors can asset many people to live an overall healthier life while educating them on proper spinal hygiene, nutrition, and exercise.  This completes a total holistic health care picture.
