FAQ

What do I expect on my first visit?
     - Examination, palpation (touching) of spine, range of motion studies, neurological and orthopedic exam, x-rays if medically indicated.
     - Then the adjustment will be done.

Does it hurt?
     - The type of treatment we use (low velocity) may be some slight discomfort due to the swelling associated with the vertebrae out of position.

What do I expect after treatment?
     - Perhaps slight increase in pain due to the healing response, and the need of ice will help to keep the swelling under control.  Your activity should be limited for the first 23-36 hours to help insure the adjustment will hold.

How long does it usually take to get better?
     - Better should start within the first 1-3 days.  Well may take longer due to the nature of the injury-contact us on our email address handson@casinternet.net for specific conditions.

Do you have to keep coming back after you have been treated?
     - First and the most simple answer is if a condition is resolved without the use of evasive treatment (injections, surgery, medications) and that condition were to return be it daily wear and tear (work) or trauma why wouldn't you?

Is it expensive?
     - At our office we are very reasonable, but of course this would vary with the number of treatments, x-rays, etc.  You can email or call at (304) 422-2301 for prices.  We do except most insurance, auto insurance, workers comp, Medicare and WV Medicaid if requirements are met.  Sometimes x-rays and referrals are required..

What about surgery?
     - Surgery is always the last resort.  The most common surgery is ruptured/herniated disc and in comparison to other surgeries preformed they are uncommon.  The need for surgery is often determined by response to conservative care.  If a patient does not respond, x-rays, MRI's and referrals to a specialist is done to see if surgery is an option.
